There are two kinds of categories for Google My Business listings: Primary and Secondary categories.
- Primary category - There can only be one (1) primary category and will be used as the initial category highlighted during search queries.
- Secondary categories - These are additional categories that you can add to let users know what other services your business provides. You can add up to nine (9) secondary categories.
Google actively adds categories and there are more than 3,000 categories that you can choose from. If you feel there's a category missing, you may choose the closest one to your business.
